Be Smart Enough to Know What You Don’t KnowNovember 28, 2017
When it comes to PMS and Reservation systems, most are going to do the basics. They will allow you to enter arrival and departure dates, enter charges, and check guests in and out at property level. Some go beyond this and offer both online and OTA bookings with connections to sites like Booking.com or Expedia.
The more sophisticated ones offer ways to track housekeeping, maintenance, owner charges, management fees, and chargebacks to both guests or owners. Often, they will allow you to do things like rate yielding based on occupancy, days out, or both.
The problem is-the software is only as good as the knowledge of the person or persons entering the data. If you don’t know what criteria should be considered when setting rates, it will be a shot in the dark. Rate Yielding is a science unto itself and you can find yourself losing money quickly if you don’t stay on top of it and make sure you are yielding in the right way. Just a few mistakes here or there can cost thousands.
No matter your system, knowledge is power, and AOS offers years of knowledge and power packed software. Our clients expect us to set them on the right path, and our track record proves we have succeeded.
The old saying, “Garbage In; Garbage Out,” is as true today as it ever was, and the last place to risk a lack of knowledge is in running your business technology.
