Kicking and ScreamingMarch 8, 2018
Believe it or not, one of our main jobs with clients is to drag them, “Kicking and Screaming,” into the future. They like the old way of doing things, and are deathly afraid of change. The whole world is changing around them, but they prefer to do business the old fashioned way.
Snowbird parks are the ones most often afraid of change. They fear if the change their rates, or require technology over paper, both their staff and guests will recoil. What they don’t think about is their business, and how they will quickly lose money and become irrelevant if they don’t move forward. They have never thought about things such as staff productivity and maximization of revenue. They are often leading by fear, and this is never a productive way to run a business.
Such parks need to realize that the up and coming generation of snowbirds are tech savvy. They want things like online booking, digital signatures, fast and easy checkin, and are accustomed to rate yielding because they have also been staying in hotels and flying on airplanes.
There is also the growing trend toward younger guests, who are not going to want to speak to a front desk, but rather book off their smart phone.
A well trained staff that is willing to use tech tools, can help a business accomplish higher revenue and increased guest satisfaction by implementing just a few tech changes. If owners and managers will assist in guiding their teams through these changes, more revenue and great productivity is just around the corner.
